Child recovering after line drive hit at Braves game

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA - A young Braves fan hit by a foul ball during Tuesday night's game was "conscious and talkative before being transported."

According to a story posted on, the line drive hit by Carlos Gomez made an "audible thud" when it struck the young fan.

The child was carried to a First Aid station while EMS workers rendered him aid. He was later transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.

The Braves issued a statement saying:

"The young fan was hit in the head by a ball but was conscious and talkative while he was being treated on site before being transferred to the hospital. The team and all of Braves Country have him in our thoughts and prayers."

In the article, Braves pitcher Julio Teheran said "I didn't know if it hit a kid or a big person. I don't like when they get a foul ball like that … I knew it was going to hit somebody, because it was fast and hard and nobody was going to have a chance to get out of the way."
