MCDONNELL RULING EXPECTED - We shouldn't have to wait long to learn how a federal judge will rule on the question of dismissing federal corruption charges against former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell and his wife Maureen. U.S. District Judge James R. Spencer said after arguments yesterday that he will make a decision today. The McDonnell's were charged in January on corruption charges they exchanged access and provided help to businessman Johnnie Williams in exchange for loans, clothes, trips and private plane rides. They entered a not guilty plea , and a jury trial is scheduled for July 28.

FRM VIRGINIA SENATOR 4 PRESIDENT? - He served one term, kept a relatively low profile, and by all accounts had a pretty strong distaste for the politics and glad-handing that went along with being a Senator. So you might say a collective "what?" rose up in Virginia and Democratic circles yesterday when Former Virginia senator James Webb said Monday that he's thinking about running for president. Webb was elected in 2006 and decided not to seek reelection. He's a combat Vietnam Veteran and was Ronald Reagan's Navy Secretary. Webb told WAMU it takes him a while to make up his mind, but he's very concerned about the direction of US foreign policy.

NATIONAL AQUARIUM DOLPHINS - Is it cruel to keep dolphins in captivity? The National Aquarium at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore Maryland is wrestling with a very big decision. Officials have announced they are thinking about is no longer having dolphins on exhibit. The reason? A growing debate over whether keeping dolphins in captivity is cruel. The aquarium is weighing moving its 8 dolphins from the Dolphin amphitheater to an ocean-side sanctuary. A team of consultants to examine the issue an the public is being asked to weigh in as well.

FEDERAL MARIJUANA LAW? A Virginia Republican Congressman has introduced a bill that would legalize medical marijuana at the federal level, for states where right now possessing medical marijuana is legal, like the Commonwealth of Virginia. Rep. Morgan Griffith call his bill the “Legitimate Use of Medicinal Marijuana Act,” It moves marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule II, in a grouping with not only cocaine and methamphetamine but Ritalin and Adderall, drugs prescribed legally for children. Virginia has a medical marijunia law, but does not allow the sale of it due to the federal prohibition.
