Video: Teenage Boy Rescued From Island

Posted: Updated:
SOLANO COUNTY, CA -

A teenager in California found himself trapped on an island surrounded by fast-moving water. His rescue was caught on video.

After being swept away by strong currents, a 15-year-old boy ended up stuck in the Middle of Putah Creek in Solano County.

A dam in the river had been opened, resulting in the chilly creek reaching speeds capable of sweeping the boy away.

Rescuers called in a helicopter to drop a line down to him through the trees, before lifting him off the ground and dropping him off safely in a parking area. Tall trees had complicated the helicopters rescue efforts.

"He was able to put it on and they they were able to bring him up to the helicopter, put him in there for safety and land him in the parking area," said Solano County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ken Kramer.

The boy did not want to talk after the ordeal, but was reportedly walking around and seemed to be doing just fine.
