PHOENIX (KSAZ) - It's the new yearbook for this generation.

Kids at Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek put together a clever music video that is similar to a time capsule.

There are plenty of ways to capture high school memories, there is a yearbook, high school portraits, but students at Cactus Shadows High School have their lip dub video. A lip dub is when a bunch of people lip syncing along to a music video.

Nothing says school pride these days as a lip dub video does.

Getting 1,500 kids together for the lip sync music video was no easy feat. It took teamwork, and the school's student council coordinated the event.

"I put every ounce of me into it," said Elizabeth Rockwell.

It took close to four months of preparation work to pull off the video.

"We had to do a lot of planning, and there was a lot of communication with the other team captains," said Rockwell.

The video production students had their own work cut out for them.

"It was actually really hard because there's more aspects we had to think of, like is someone going to hit us while we were walking," said Tanner Boysun.

Getting the shot was heavy, and the students say wearing the steady cam was no walk in the park.

"Once we have a camera on here the camera, and the arm feels like it weighs 50 pounds," he said.

After the route was set, roles assigned, and confetti in hand the students performed a couple of trial runs then it was showtime with no do-overs.

"Then we just said ok, we're going live, and in one shot we shot the whole video that morning," said Principal Steve Bebee.

"You would have to be there to experience what we felt that day and all the school spirit we took in," said Boysun.

"the atmosphere was so electric, and the kids were so proud of what they were about to accomplish," said Beebee.

"When you see this video, wow, the whole school united together to do this spirited video. So it kind of brings chills to you knowing this is Cactus Shadows, and this is who we are," said Boysun.

The principal actually rented a helicopter to get the final shot in the video. So from steady cam to a helicopter the students had a lot of fancy equipment to work with to make this video look professional.

Out of 1,600 kids who attend the school only 50 were not featured in the video as they were absent from school that day or opted-out.
