PHILADELPHIA- A police officer was injured by pepper spray while trying to break up a fight in Center City during the Thursday evening rush.

Police say 30-40 people were engaged in a fight and they believe those involved were students from rival schools.

According to authorities, the officer pulled out his pepper spray trying to intervene. Unfortunately, the pepper spray blew back into his face and injured the officer due to the wind.

He was treated on the scene for red eyes and discomfort.

Police say they arrested two people for disorderly conduct.
