MEDAL OF HONOR - 3:00 pm On November 9, 2007 Kyle White was an Army Sergeant in Afghanistan. He and 14 U.S. and Afghan soldiers were ambushed by the Taliban in the village of Aranas. During the gunfire, White was knocked out. When he came to, he realized that most of his fellow Americans &Afghans slid down a hill for cover. Left at the top, he treated the other wounded troops and directed their removal all while he himself was badly wounded all under heavy enemy attack . Today President Barack Obama is presenting the Medal of Honor to a former Army sergeant. White is the 7th living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for Iraq or Afghanistan.

VIRGINIA SAME SEX MARRIAGE - 11:00 The effort to overturn Virginia's ban on Same- Sex Marraige has an important hearing today. The Fourth Circut Court of Appeals will hear the case of Bostic v. Schaefer, the appeal of the federal district court decision which struck down Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage. Appellants and appellees will each have thirty minutes for arguments and questions. Virginia Solicitor General Stuart Raphael will argue in court on behalf of Virginia. Attorney General Herring previously attended oral argument in federal district court where the Commonwealth successfully argued that Virginia's bans on marriage for same-sex couples is unconstitutional.

COACH CONGRESS - Should Congress have to sit behind the curtain with the rest of us? A bipartisan group of lawmakers is pushing a bill that would stop members of Congress from flying 1st class using taxpayer money . The bill, titled, "If Our Military Has to Fly Coach Then so Should Congress Act," was introduced by 2 Democrats &2 Republicans. The bill would impose the same restrictions for air travel for members of congress &their staff now required for travel by White House employees. The legislation has exceptions to first-class travel, like for a disability or other long-term medical condition.

ROSLYN CYCLISTS DISPUTE - In Arlington Virginia cyclists call it the "Intersection of Doom" and it lived up to tips name for Lindsey Kelley. She was cycling home at 8pm last week, entered the crosswalk at Lee Highway &N. Lynn Street on a “go” signal, when she was hit by a car. Lindsey was taken to a hospital where a U.S. Park Police officer and issued a ticket for “disregarding traffic signs or road markings,” which may cost her $70, not including U.S. District Court fees. Lindsey and many other cyclists are furious because they believe law abiding cyclists are being treated like 2nd class traffic even when they follow the rules.
