Halloween Comes 5 Months Early For Boy With Brain Cancer

Posted: Updated:
LOWER MAKEFELD, Pa. -

A spooky celebration was held Friday night for one very special little boy.

The 5-year-old from Levittown is battling a rare cancer, and he might not live to see his favorite holiday.

FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reported Friday night on how his community turned out to give him a special Halloween celebration.

Just like any 5-year-old, Franky Talley loves the fun-filled night of going door-to-door in costume for candy.

But he has terminal brain cancer, and his family says Franky won't make it to his favorite holiday.

So, that holiday came to him – five months early.

The Lower Bucks County boy was the Hulk of super heroes and Disney characters

And his family says it means everything.

"We just received, you know, some pretty hard MRI news, so we definitely needed some exciting news in our life," said Tiffany Fusco, Franky's mother. "And this was exciting!"

Franky's family says he has just weeks left to live in his battle with brain cancer, and he had just one big wish.

"He was talking about, and he said, 'I just want to go trick-or-treating,'" Fusco said.

Leave it to the staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Lower Makefield to hear about that wish on the "Team Franky" Facebook page and make it happen, setting up decorations, making treats and the works.

"It's a happy time. It's Halloween. The kids are excited," one woman told us.

Another said it's "thrilling, it really is."

Anda Durso, of Sunrise Senior Living, said, "They just rant o CVS, got some candy, and they were to thrilled that they could make this little boy happy. And the smiles on their faces just, you know, said it all."

And while it's hard for Franky to speak, his smile said it all, and his mom could feel it, too.

"It made me feel really happy to see so many people here supporting us in such a tragic time," she said.

Franky's cancer is called DIPG. It impacts the brain stem. He was given nine months to live at diagnosis. He has made it 16 months, so far. But his family says his time is now down to precious weeks, and they are making every day count, Kinchen reported.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
