Gardners across southeast Michigan will have a chance to get their hands on free vegetable plants on Saturday, May 10.

The annual Mother's Day Free Plant Giveaway will begin at noon on the corner of Gladstone and Linwood on the city's west side. Those who add their gardens to the Urban Farming Global Map will be eligible to receive the free plants while supplies last.

According to their website, the Urban Farming mission is to create an abundance of food for people in need by supporting and encouraging the establishment of gardens on unused land and space while increasing diversity, raising awareness for health and wellness, and inspiring and educating youth, adults and seniors to create an economically sustainable system to uplift communities around the globe.
