Shooting in parking lot of Temple Hills shopping center

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. -

Prince George's County police are investigating a shooting at the Rosecroft Shopping Center in Temple Hills Thursday afternoon.

A dispute over a car apparently led to the shooting outside a supermarket in the shopping center.

Police say a gunman opened fire in the parking lot and hit one man in the arm.

A witness familiar with the dispute said it had everything to do with a green Cadillac Deville. The owner and another man were allegedly arguing over the cost of repairs of the vehicle when one of the men pulled a gun and opened fire.

The incident that occurred around 1:30 p.m. was captured by a nearby surveillance camera mounted on the roof of the Jumbo Food International Supermarket.

First, a car is seen pulling up to the Cadillac. You can see a few people talking and then a second car pulls up. In a flash, there is an altercation. Witnesses said a gun was pulled and everyone scatters.

The witness told us the owner of the Cadillac loaned the car to another man and when he got it back, there was something wrong with the brakes. The owner wanted money for repairs and that is when things got heated.

"An unknown suspect shot a gun and a victim was struck in the arm,” said Cpl. Nate Lewis of the Prince George’s County Police Department. “He was transported to a local hospital by a friend where he is currently in stable condition and we are continuing to investigate this incident.”

On the video, immediately after the shooting and before police arrived, a person was seen walking into the parking lot and picks up what appears to be shell casings from the shooting. We have learned that the person was trying to be helpful and had no connection to the incident.

Police say none of the people involved called for an ambulance or even dialed 911.
