Crooks hit Phoenix cell phone repair shop twice in 24 hours

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A cell phone repair store in central Phoenix is reeling from a big financial loss after a crook broke in -- not once, but twice in a matter of 24 hours!

Tens of thousands of dollars was stolen and both break-ins were caught on surveillance video.

The thief wasted no time in ransacking the NexTech phone repair store near 7th Street and Osborn Road around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

He grabbed an empty trash bin and quickly filled up on whatever he could grab.

"They took a bunch of our LCD screens, a bunch of cases, screen protectors, iPad glass screens," said store manager Trevor Clay.  "The highest value were the LCD screens.. at least $20,000 in LCD screens were stolen."

When employees arrived a short time later, the place was a mess.  Shattered glass was everywhere and display cases were emptied.  They cleaned it up, but 24 hours later, the thief returned.

"I believe he used a back window the second time," said Clay.

Yes -- a second break-in, but this time, the thief returned with help and they took their time.

"The second time they were here for about a half hour and took not only our parts, but customer devices, three iPads and an iPhone," said Clay.  "They knew where they were coming and they knew what they were getting."

Those customer iPhones and iPads did not have tracking apps, so it will be difficult to locate them.

"As far as people, devices were the worst hit because there is personal information that they will not be able to retrieve," said Clay.

And if these guys are even thinking of coming back for a third time..  "Never come back because we'll catch them this time," said Clay.

The owner of the store is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that helps catch the suspects.
