Google's same-day delivery service launches in Manhattan

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Companies have noticed more and more of us simply don't have the time or the desire to go the grocery or drug store. Instead we want it delivered with the click of computer stroke.

Technology giant Google is joining the competition trying to capitalize on this trend. Fairway, Target, Walgreens, Costco, Staples, and Toys R Us have joined forces with Google Shopping Express, a new same-day delivery service similar to Amazon Prime or Fresh Direct.

Google is trying to one up competitors by offering delivery the same day for low price.

Right now Google Shopping Express is available in Manhattan but it may soon expand to Queens and Brooklyn.

On its first day, Google Shopping Express could not meet demand for same-day delivery service. I tried to order at 4:30 p.m. and was told there were no more delivery times available.

A Google spokesperson who told Fox 5 the company quickly booked up delivery times and is working to add capacity.
