CHANDLER, Ariz. - A Chandler Police Officer opened fire on a suspect at an apartment complex near Chandler Blvd. & Dobson Rd. Monday afternoon.

The shooting happened near the Los Arboles Apartments just before 3:30 p.m.

Chandler Police believe that 25 year-old David Gonzales, the suspect, may have been wounded.  He allegedly carjacked a woman and drove her car to the area of Hamilton & Chandler Blvd where officers conducted a second search for the gunman.

Seth Tyler with the department said that the officer was not injured.

Authorities began looking for the suspect Monday morning during a man with a gun call. The department's SWAT team searched the area while several schools were placed on lockdown, but they were unable to locate the man.

Police say he is believed to be armed and dangerous. If anyone has information, they are asked to call 9-1-1.
