The man who authorities believe may possibly be linked to three high-profile murders in Alexandria has been extradited from a West Virginia jail Monday afternoon.

Jail officials in West Virginia say Charles Severance was released to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at around 2 p.m.

Severance has been held in West Virginia since March after being arrested on an unrelated gun charge in Loudoun County.

Severance is wanted for questioning in the murders of Ruthanne Lodato, Ron Kirby and Nancy Dunning in Alexandria.

Severance is a former Alexandria resident who also ran for mayor in the city twice.
