CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A 4-month-old girl was found Monday morning after her father kidnapped her at gunpoint from the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood.

After the man was involved in a domestic dispute about 3:30 a.m., he kicked down a door to a home in the 1100 block of East 82nd Street, police said. Neighbors reported hearing commotion and called police.

The man, who allegedly had a gun, then left the home with his 4-month-old daughter, police said.

The baby girl was found safe between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital for observation, police said.

The father is in custody and is being questioned by police.

The building the baby was taken from has several apartments and 24 hour security. One of the building managers told FOX 32 news he is going to review some of the security footage and possibly provide that to police as additional evidence.

FOX 32's Anita Padilla contributed to this story.
