GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Employees of a suburban New York school district are suing their superintendent over what they describe as a hostile workplace filled with racial, religious and sexual slurs.

The Journal News reports that a principal, the human resources director, two guidance counselors and four teachers filed a federal against Greenburgh Superintendent Ronald O. Ross and members of the Board of Education.

According to the lawsuit filed Thursday in federal court in White Plains, Ross used offensive language in referring to the race of both black and white employees.

The lawsuit says Ross called women by demeaning names and made inappropriate comments about people's weight.

It says he told a Muslim employee she was a danger to students because of "her people."

A district spokeswoman said the district could not comment.
