North Philadelphia Gas Station Customers Worry After Recent Carjacking

Posted: Updated:
Its surveillance video that will force you to think twice the next time you pull-up to a gas station.

Two women--simply trying to fill up the tank get carjacked!

It was a terrifying scene at a local gas station as a female customer found herself being dragged across the parking lot as she desperately held onto her car after a man carjacked her.

“Very lucky it didn't turn out a whole lot worse than it did,” states Capt.. Mark Burgmann.

“You really can't protect yourself at the gas station if somebody jumps in your car and runs off,” says Exxon Customer, Nikki Williams.

It started when the suspect approached the car as two women were pumping gas at this Exxon station on Broad Street in North Philly. First, the suspect demanded money, when the driver said she didn't have any, he made his move.

“Our offender pulled the complainant out of the vehicle and took off, “describes Burgmann.

The women refused to give up. As the suspect sped off, the women kept clinging to the car.

Burgmann continues, “the vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed. One woman suffered scrapes and bruises to her knees and arms.”

Customers at the station on Friday were terrified by the thought of the same thing happening to them.

“It's terrible you don't know what to do you're afraid to come here,” worries another customer.

“Whatever property somebody demands, give it up. It's not worth your life,” advises Capt. Mark Burgmann.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
