OBAMA ON STERLING - NBA owner Donald Sterling faces a firestorm of criticism from fans, players and fellow owners after recording of a racist phone call TMZ has unearthed. Now Sterling can add the President of the United States to that list. At a press conference in Malaysia, the President Obama called the NBA team owner "Ignorant" for making “incredibly offensive racist statements” Its far from the first time the President has weighed in on hot-button race controversies but it's likely to turn up the pressure on NBA owners to act to punish or even force the Clippers owner to sell his team.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REPORT - Later today in DC a major piece of good news will be released comes to High School graduation rates nationwide. U.S. public high schools have reached a milestone, an 80% graduation rate. Yet that still means 1 of every 5 students walks away without a diploma. Citing the progress, researchers are projecting a 90 percent national graduation rate by 2020. Their report, based on Education Department statistics from 2012, is being presented Monday at the Building a GradNation Summit today at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel

BLIND INTERNET PATENT - There are lots of tools that help blind people navigate the internet. But one security feature is a roadblock: those "type these characters" pop-ups that prove if your a human. They're called CAPTCHA, but even sighted people call them annoying. Now, Maryland's Townson University has received a patent for an invention. Instead of reading and typing characters, the devise instead plays a series of audio tones which allows a blind internet user to respond using their space bar when pro,ted to match the correct sound to proceed to a site. The SoundsRight CAPTCHA is still in a "beta" version, they been working on it since 2007.

VIRGINIA'S JOHN PAUL CONNECTION - A Catholic High School in Dumphries Virginia today has a particular interest in the events in Vatican City Yesterday. Pope Francis has canonized the late Pope John Paul II as a Catholic Saint. The cornerstone for the new Pope John Paul The Great High School was blessed at a Mass in Nationals Park by now retired Pope Benedict. The opening of the school was against the recent trends by of difficulties for catholic schools which have faced increasing competition for students from public charter schools

    Fruit packaged by the Wawona Packing Company out of Cutler, California and sold at stores across the country is being voluntarily recalled. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says there is a possibility the recalled products may be contaminated with listeria. No illnesses have been linked to the recall. Certain lots of peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots sold at Trader Joe's, Costco, Sam's Club and Fresh Direct could be contaminated with the dangerous food-borne pathogen.
