Let it Rip Weekend: Mayoral race and EM's 'dumb & lazy' comment

A new poll shows Mike Duggan leading in the race for Detroit Mayor. Could those dirty tricks against him actually be paying off in his favor? Duggan supporter and community activist Malik Shabazz thinks
On this edition we explore the Obama Administration's new program to grant clemency to potentially thousands of federal inmates.  They must be non-violent and sentenced under older, stricter guidelines. Kathleen Schaefer thinks that's a great idea.  She's worked with prisoners and parolees for 35 years and thinks throwing people behind bars isn't always the answer to reducing crime.  But conservative radio host and author Ron Edwards isn't so sure.  He's still a fan of getting tough on crime and believes clemency sends the wrong message to law breakers.

Plus, are zero tolerance policies in schools going too far? Recently, a coalition of community organizers and high school students called Youth Voice marched all the way from Detroit to Lansing to shed light on the issue.  Michael Reynolds is the co-president of the group.  He was suspended for what he believes are trivial violations of school rules, and says he's not alone.  He was joined by Kayla Mason, the director of Youth Voice from the Harriet Tubman Society.  She wants alternatives to suspensions and expulsions to be the norm.

Finally, we host a debate on the minimum wage with community organizer Lee Gaddies and the President of the Oakland Chamber, Mary Engelman.  They get into a fiery discussion over a ballot initiative that would raise it to $10.10 an hour.  Would it put businesses out of business or boost worker spending power?
