CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A two-car crash on the outbound Dan Ryan killed one person and injured four others early Saturday.

About 3:30 a.m., a car heading south on the Dan Ryan Expressway near 26th Street collided with another car that had spun out in the center lanes, Illinois State Police said.

Gregory Squaire, 32, of the 6900 block of South Bell Avenue, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 4:06 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Two others involved in the crash were in serious-to-critical condition and were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Stroger Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Larry Langford said.

Another person was in fair-to-serious condition and was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Langford said.

One more person refused medical treatment, Langford said.

Lanes near the crash site had reopened to traffic about 6:45 a.m., according to state police.
