Study: Kids learn profanity no matter what parents do

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Warning parents: you're are going to need earmuffs for this sick little story. We asked some kids: What are the three worst words you know? We got some choice answers.

I'm not trying to lose my job, really. I'm just using some old journalistic chops by testing the validity of a new study published in the American Journal of Psychology. It says children start picking up foul language as soon as they start talking.

Dr. Jeptha Tausig-Edwards, a child psychologist, says children's brains are like sponges so they are going to soak them right up. She says there's no way to avoid it. Your kids will learn to curse -- and young. By 5 or 6, your child may already know 34 bad words, the study suggests.

If your kid is cursing, here's what you need to do.

"The main thing to do is not just sit with them and explain to them how this should work, when it might be slightly more appropriate and when it's not appropriate, but also model that behavior yourself," Dr. Tausig-Edwards says.

I guess I'm not the best role model. Sorry kiddos. OK you rotten kids, I'm done with you. Now get the bleep out of here.
