Musical Avenue Q opens in Chicago Thursday

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - What is your favorite musical? Most people answer that question with one of the classics: Les Miserables, Rent, or Guys and Dolls.

But one musical deserving to be on that list is a little different. It beat Wicked for best musical at the Tony Awards, had one of the longest and most successful Broadway runs in history and it has puppets.

Welcome to Avenue Q, the best musical you may have never even heard of.

So begins Avenue Q, a puppet based but adult themed musical that revolves around the idea that we are raised by shows like "Sesame Street" to believe that we are all special and can do whatever we dream.

But what happens if we grow up and that's not true.

Jackson Evans and Leah Morrow, two members of the shows incredible cast, say that just because the show may not be a household name like Wicked or Les Mis, it doesn't mean it is any less special.

"Family friendly" are definitely two words that have never been used to describe Avenue Q. While the suggested age is 16 and above, the warning on the marquee outside proves that these puppets won't be hanging out on Sesame Street anytime soon. It reads "Warning, Puppet nudity starts April 24."

Forget the raunchiness, forget the language, forget the puppet nudity. At it's core, Avenue Q is a story about life and that time we all remember when we had no idea what we were going to do with it.

It's a reminder that no matter what you're facing, everything in life is only for now.
