Patriotic welcome home for returning troops from Montgomery Co. school students

LINTHICUM, Md. -

Returning troops arriving at BWI Airport got an unexpected surprise Wednesday evening. About 50 students from Rocky Hill Middle School in Clarksburg, Md., stood by, gave high fives and sang patriotic songs to thank the arriving soldiers and airmen for their service to their country.

Choir Director Paul Heinemann said he wanted to give the concert choir an opportunity to do something special and help someone else at the same time.

The students partnered with volunteers from Operation Welcome Home Maryland, who have greeted over 400,000 military personnel since 2007.

It was a heartwarming welcome that the troops appreciated. It was something the students will never forget and the soldiers and airmen will always remember.
