DETROIT (WJBK) - Robert Ficano is seeking his fourth term as Wayne County Executive.

He made his re-election bid official Monday evening during a news conference.

He was joined by union brotherhood and other supporters at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58 in Detroit as he laid out his plans for the county's future.

FOX 2's Maurielle Lue was at the event.  Play the first video in the player to see her report.  Play the second video to see an interview with Fox 2's Huel Perkins and Sherry Margolis.  Ficano says he's running in spite of recent scandals because "he has not done anything wrong."

Ficano was first elected as Wayne County Executive in 2002. Before that, he served 20 years as Wayne County Sheriff, which is also an elected position.

He will face off against five challengers in the primary election: Wayne Co. Commissioner Kevin McNamara; Westland Mayor Bill Wild; Sigmunt Szczepkowski; Rep. Phil Cavanaugh; and former Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans who filed the official paperwork on Monday.

Ficano has been embroiled in scandal after a failed jail project cost county taxpayers millions of dollars and with several county employees that he appointed facing indictments or already sentenced to jail for taking bribes.
