WOODSTOCK - Cherokee County authorities arrested 2 people after finding drugs, firearms, and exotic animals in their home. According a press release, agents of the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad conducted a search of a residence in Woodstock on Friday.

Agents say they conducted the search after tracking a shipment of 10 pounds of marijuana to the residence. Once inside, the agents say they found marijuana, firearms, hashish, Xanax, psilocybin mushrooms and a variety of exotic animals. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources was called in to assist with the exotic wildlife. One of the exotic animals was a rare animal called a Tegu.

The Tegu is a South American lizard that is banned in the United States because of their aggressive nature and damage to the native ecosystem. The lizards are black and white in color and can grow up to four feet in length.

According to authorities, 19-year-old Marlena Shae Darby was arrested and charged with marijuana trafficking, possession of Xanax and possession of hashish. 25-year-old Kurt Steven Wisehart was charged with possession of cocaine and hashish. Both suspects are in custody at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center. Wisehart’s bond was set at $22,400.

Agents say that a third suspect is currently at large. Matt Quinn has been charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of Xanax, Hashish, and possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Anyone with information regarding Quinn’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact investigators at 770-345-7920.
