Fire restrictions begin to prevent wildfires - DC News FOX 5 DC WTTG

Fire restrictions in place to prevent wildfires

Posted: Updated:

Fire restrictions begin Friday to prevent wildfires from happening ahead of the beginning of the season.

Areas included are Apache Sitgreaves, Tonto, Prescott, Coconino and Kaibab.

Campers aren't permitted to make campfires, charcoal fires or wood fires, use wood stoves or smoke, except in developed camp grounds.

Usually restrictions aren't put in place until June, but the lack of moisture has caused officials to be more cautious.

The restrictions will be in place until there is significant rainfall.
