FEDERAL BUILDING SECURITY - The Federal Government in Washington spends billions into beefing up its own security at building in DC. But when it comes to smaller offices in Virginia and Maryland? Not so much. A Treasury Department Inspector General report says frontline IRS employees for example don't have adequate tools to warn of potentially dangerous people looking to strike at the government by attacking smaller offices. A recent Government Accountability Office investigation is questioning the training of contract security guards hired by the Federal Protective Service for multiple agencies, noting that 23% lacked required training documentation.

MCDONNELL NEEDS MONEY - Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's effort to is facing a federal corruption trial for taking money and gifts from a donor and promoting the donors company. Now McDonnell is asking donors online to give him money so he can defend himself for having taking money while Governor. Bob McDonnell's backers have launched an email campaign called "The McDonnell Restoration Fund". They are trying to raise $1 Million dollars for the former first couples defense for legal fees, expert witnesses, hotels, transcripts and other costs associated with the Federal trial expected to start in July.

CLINTON DOC DROP - So what exactly was Hillary Rodham Clinton's role in health care reform during her husbands administration? We could find out more details today. The National Archives is releasing abother 7,500 pages of documents Friday from former President Bill Clinton's administration. The records will cover not only "HillaryCare" but the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and foreign policy involving Rwanda, Iran and the Middle East. The records are being closely watched as Hillary Rodham Clinton considers a second presidential campaign in 2016.

FARMS ARE FREEZING- Growers in Maryland's local farms have had to out up with drought, and downpours in recent years, now unusually late season freeze warnings are causing new concerns. The Maryland Department of Agriculture estimates 11 percent of peach blossoms were in full bloom across Maryland by April 13th. Normally that should be around 39 percent by this time of year. It's big business: Maryland boasts an estimated 800 acres of peach orchards in the state, each acre grows nearly five tons of peaches each year, worth $5 million annually in all.

Today's History:

In 1775, Paul Revere began his famous ride from Charlestown to Lexington, Mass., warning American colonists that the British were coming.

In 1906, a devastating earthquake struck San Francisco, followed by raging fires; estimates of the final death toll range between 3,000 and 6,000.

In 1978, the Senate approved the Panama Canal Treaty, providing for the complete turnover of control of the waterway to Panama on the last day of 1999.
