Arrest warrant issued for employee after fiery dispute caught on video

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Police have executed a search warrant at a Metro PCS store in Detroit after a fiery dispute between an employee and a customer was captured on cell phone video.

Detroit police tell FOX 2 seconds after viewing the cell phone video, they knew a crime had been committed.

James Morris says he went into the store after being informed he only paid $9 towards his bill in March. Morris says he paid $63 in person. The employee, Auorahem Safar, is said to have disagreed and demanded a receipt.

Morris claims Safar then made numerous racial slurs towards him and his girlfriend. Morris also says Safar pulled out a gun -- a AR-15 rifle to be exact -- and told him he had three seconds before his head would be blown off.

When confronted by FOX 2's Randy Wimbley, Safar denied brandishing a weapon. Safar claimed Morris was intoxicated. You can watch the confrontation and clips of the dispute in the video player above.

The incident occurred on Friday and a complaint was filed to police Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Monday morning, detectives were looking into the video and by the end of the day an arrest warrant for Safar was typed up.

Police executed that search warrant on Tuesday and took evidence into custody including an AR-15 rifle, which is the weapon seen brandished in the cell phone video. Police say Safar was not at the store and are asking the public's assistance locating him.

If you know of Safar's whereabouts, contact police by calling (313) 596-5600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
