Spring style tips from Hollywood stylist Leslie Fremar

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Hollywood stylist Leslie Fremar, the woman behind Charlize Theron's timeless style, has a few tips for getting the most out of your spring shopping.

"I worked with Charlize for the Oscars and she wore this beautiful black gown," she says. Her other clients include Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore. She is teaching us how to power style like the stars.

"I'm really fortunate because I work with Ask.com and they allow me to kind of see what trends are resonating with the people at home."

We know New York's go-to hue is a winter favorite but Leslie shows us how to make a statement with head-to-toe black this spring.

"On the runway we were seeing a lot of the hats, like in the Saint Laurent show, so I just wanted to show how black can be worn in a really stylish way," she says. "Sometimes people think that black falls to the side, and I personally think it can be really dramatic and is a huge trend this season."

Next Leslie layers a few different trends, creating a sophisticated outfit you can work and play in.

"This is actually a look that you could wear to work and you could wear it for dinner afterwards -- you wouldn't have to go home and change," she says. "So Amy's wearing button down that has this piping that adds a little bit of detail… her blazer which keeps her a little more conservative… Maybe if you can't wear open-toe shoes to work you can wear a pair of pumps and bring your evening shoes in a bag and change and it would work both ways."

Crisp white clothing is a warm weather staple that looks great on any shape.

"I think that white pants are flattering, so I think just try it and wear something a little bit more tailored on top," Leslie says.

To get that slimming silhouette on top try a classic vest, which is totally en vogue.

"Ask.com was seeing really strong interest in vests," she says.

Finish it off with a statement necklace for a little glam.

"This is a necklace that I found that's around $40, and I don't think people would think to wear it this way, but it looks really beautiful over a shirt," Leslie says.

But, if you can believe it, there's something else this 4-year-old is even more excited about: Times Square is going gold. The chairman of the Times Square Advertising Coalition announced the crossroads of the world is going to light up in gold to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.
