Evenflo recalls 1.3M car seats due to potential safety hazard

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Evenflo is voluntarily recalling 1.3 million child safety seats. The harness buckle may become difficult to unlatch if food or drink gets into it, which may lead to a safety hazard during an emergency exit.

The affected convertible car seats and harnessed booster seats were built between 2011 and 2014. There is no safety risk if the buckle has not been exposed to contaminants.

To find out the model name, model number prefix and affected dates of manufacture, check out Evenflo's recall statement on their official website.

Evenflo has not received reports of injuries connected to the seats affected by the buckle recall.

A free replacement buckle kit is available for affected seats, with complete instructions. Customers can place an order for the kit online or call 1-800-490-7591.

The company urges customers not to return the seats to stores. If your buckle is not working properly, cleaning it according to Evenflo's instructions should help until the remedy kit arrives.

Evenflo apologizes for any inconvenience the buckle causes its valued customers. The call back is being conducted in partnership with the U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

This same issue affected millions of Graco car seats, which were also recalled.
