DETROIT (WJBK) - A 25-year-old woman says she was minding her own business going to the store to buy beer when she was suddenly punched in the face, beaten and robbed.

Brianna Owen says she was walking Monday around 1:15 a.m. with a friend to go inside the Grand House of Liquor party store in Detroit near Bennett Street and Telegraph Road, near McNichols Road. She says another friend was already inside.

All of a sudden, Owen says she was hit in the face and was then repeatedly hit in the face by a taller man.

"He was 6 [feet] 2 [inches tall]. I'm 5 [feet] 5 [inches tall]. I'm 120 pounds. I'm a little girl," she tells FOX 2's Amy Lange.

She says her cell phone and her friend's cell phone were stolen.

The two went inside for help, but Owen says the employee repeatedly told them this was "not [his] problem."

The friend inside called 911 but they did not wait at the party store long enough for police to arrive. They say they left after about 10 minutes to go to a friend's home nearby in Redford.

Surveillance cameras can be seen outside the party store so if the incident was caught on camera, the footage will be used to aid in the investigation.

Owen is now missing a tooth and broke her nose.

The owner of the party store was unavailable to speak with FOX 2 Monday.
