Teen Parents Arrested for Slapping, Biting Baby

Posted: Updated:

(FOX11/AP)  Authorities say the 18-year-old parents of a year-old Phoenix girl are in custody for allegedly slapping, biting and pulling her hair.

Phoenix police say officers were sent to their home by the child's maternal grandparents.

Court documents released Monday show Abiezer Neftali Zuniga and Sandy Yesenia Aranda both are being held on suspicion of child abuse.

They are accused of abusing their baby daughter on multiple occasions from February 2014 to April.

At their initial court appearances Monday, Zuniga's bond was set at $75,000 and Aranda's bond was set at $5,000. Neither has an attorney yet.

After arriving at the family's home Saturday, police say they found the child with numerous bite marks and injuries.

Police say Phoenix Fire Department paramedics were called to provide medical treatment to the girl.
