MARYLAND MARIJUANA - Today's the last day of the Maryland General Assembly and are expected to decriminalize marijuana today as the session comes to a close at midnight. The bill moved forward in the Senate and it's House passage is likely after compromises last week. The law will change possession of small portions of pot from a criminal offense to a civil offense. There will be. escalating fines for repeated infractions. Still to be resolved include trying again to make marijuana available for medical treatment. Law enforcement organizations like Maryland's Sheriffs Association are strongly against decriminalizing marijuana saying it will lead to harder drug use.

OBAMA PRINCE GEORGE'S - 11:15 a.m. POTUS in PG today. President Obama will announce today that Bladensburg High School and two other schools in Prince George's County have won a $7 million federal grant to expand a program that helps students prepare for jobs in the region. The schools are among 24 winners of a national competition to recognize programs that focus on work skills and connecting students with employers in the region. ARMY HAIRSTYLES DISCRIMINATE? - New US Army regulations aimed at creating a uniform look for soldiers' personal appearance, are under fire by some African-American military women. The reason? They say the requirements for their hairstyles are racially biased. The Army standards included bans on most twists, dreadlocks and large cornrows. The critics say that targets African-Americans because they are styles used predominantly by black women with natural hairstyles. The controversy has now headed to The White House where over 11,000 people have signed a White House petition asking President Obama, as the commander in chief, to have the military take another review of the regulations to permit "neat and maintained natural hairstyles."

VIRGINIA MOON ROCKET - If your March Madness bracket didn't go as planned, NASA may have a way for you to salvage your predictive skills. Any day a spacecraft launched from a NASA launch pad on Virginia’s eastern shore will crash into the moon. The unmanned spacecraft last September was the first to be sent from Virginia to the lunar surface. The spacecraft has been in a very low orbit over the moon, so low that it's designed to and break apart “on or before” April 21 and crash to the lunar surface. But when? Nobody's sure. Now NASA has started an online contest letting people guess when the moon rocket will crash. The site is: socialforms.nasa.gov/ladee. Winners will get a personalized NASA certificate.
