WALKERSVILLE, Md. -

Maryland State Police are searching for a suspect after two women were sexually assaulted along a trail at Walkersville Community Park in Walkersville.

It happened at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Police say a 37-year-old woman and 50-year-old woman were jogging along the path when the suspect approached from behind. He grabbed the younger woman and attempted to pull down her running pants. The older victim helped her fight the suspect off. She also used her cell phone to call 911, but then she was also assaulted by the suspect.

After a brief altercation with her, the suspect ran off toward Walkersville High School, which backs up to the park.

The victims were able to provide information which investigators used to create a composite sketch of the man they are looking for. He is described as a young African American male, about 5'6" to 5'8" tall, 150 pounds, with a thin build. He has a dark complexion with a very short hair style and little to no facial hair.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing light khaki cargo shorts and a long-sleeved gray shirt with black block-style lettering on it.

Anyone recognizing the suspect or with any information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150 or contact Sgt. Rick Bachtel of the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division at 443-463-2164. Callers may remain anonymous.
