MARYLAND TUNISA KIDNAPPING - 2:10 p.m. When President Obama meets Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa at the White Housetoday, A Maryland mother is hoping Obama will raise the subject if her two Prince George's County children who are caught in an international legal fight since they were taken there by their father in 2011. Maryland Senator Ben Cardin is asking the White House to push Jomaa to resolve the international kidnapping case. The mother of Eslam and Zainab Chebbi says her Maryland custody order issued is being ignored by Tunisa. More than 1,000 cases international kidnapping are reported to the State Department each year, and but less than are ever returned.

ARLINGTON ELECTION - Heavily Democratic Arlington County votes Tuesday in a County Board special election that could be the most competitive in a decade. Alan Howze, Democrat faces John Vihstadt, Republican. Vihstadt wants to be the first non-Democrat elected to the Arlington County Board in 15 years. The election is to fill the empty seat that was opened up by the resignation of veteran board member Chris Zimmerman. The winner of the special election finishes Zimmerman’s term, which ends Jan. 1, and have a head start of incumbency in running for the full term In the fall.

VIRGINIA A.G.'s ON MCDONNELL - Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is getting some help in his effort to get his federal corruption charges dismissed. Five former Virginia attorneys general are arguing in a filing To a federal judge that there's nothing with what the former governor did for a wealthy businessman Johnnie Williams. The filings say that Virginia laws allow for politicians to meet with their donors, and if the case goes forward it could " wreak havoc upon the public life of Virginia.” Future governors, the filing says, might be reluctant to invite business leaders on foreign to host campaign donors at the governor’s mansion, things that are now routine.

MARYLAND HEALTHCARE SITE - Maryland has spent about $129 million on its exchange to implement the Affordable Care Act that allows residents to sign up for health-care coverage, often with the help of a government subsidy. Nearly all of that investment was financed by the federal government, which has given Maryland about $180 million in grants. Over 4 years, Maryland plans to spend at least $260 million on the exchange. Earlier this week, the exchange’s board voted to hire Deloitte Consulting to overhaul the system and replace it with technology from Connecticut.
