Facebook post may have helped save girl's sight

Posted: Updated:

A young girl was diagnosed with a rare eye condition after her mom posted her picture to Facebook.

Tara Taylor posted a picture of her 3-year-old daughter Rylee to Facebook

She put it up to show that Rylee had done her own hair.

It got plenty of cute reaction - but two of Tara's friends went a bit further.

They noticed Rylee’s left eye had a white circle in the middle of it.

They commented to Tara, saying it was probably nothing but that she should get it looked at just in case.

Tara took Rylee to an eye specialist who discovered the young girl had Coats' Disease, an ailment that can cause partial or full vision loss.

Early detection can help lessen that loss.

Experts say photographs usually play a key role in diagnosing Coats' Disease because the flash helps to augment the issue with the retina.

Little Rylee is experiencing some vision loss but treatment continues.
