New parking payment system for Yellow Line riders in Skokie

SKOKIE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Digital payment terminals are scheduled to be installed May 1 at the CTA's Yellow Line train station in north suburban Skokie, replacing the current token payment system for parking.

The Dempster CTA station, more commonly known as the Skokie Swift, at 5001 Dempster St., will have the terminals placed near the train station and will accept coins, cash and credit cards, according to a statement from the Village of Skokie.

Commuters who have purchased parking tokens are being asked to use them before April 30, the village said. The daily rates will remain the same and customers will need to enter their parking space into the terminal before getting their receipt.

Meanwhile, a mobile application from Passport Parking will be made available for making payments by phone, the statement said.

Equipment vendors and village staff will be on sight to assist customers through May 1-2.
