Fire breaks out along Detroit's Avenue of Fashion

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Firefighters have contained a fire at a popular floral shop in Detroit.

The fire broke out at Terry's Enchanted Garden around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Nearby businesses were also affected.

FOX 2's Randy Wimbley reports a DTE Energy worker was inside the floral shop investigating a possible illegal electrical hookup when the electric box exploded.

Detroit Fire Department Battalion Chief Derrick Williams says the employee's supervisor said goggles and safety gear were worn, so the employee is expected to be okay. The employee suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The floral shop is located on Detroit's Avenue of Fashion, which is along Livernois Avenue bordered by St. Martin's Avenue and Clarita Street.

Employees say the building is a total loss.
