Soccer player saves opponent's life during match

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A quick thinking soccer player may have saved an opponent's life after a brutal collision with the goalie.

It happened in the Ukraine in a game between Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Dynamo Kiev.

Midfielder Jaba Kankava used his fingers to remove Oleh Husyev’s tongue from his airway after he was knocked unconscious.

Husyev had just taken a knee to the head from the Dnipro goalie.

Despite the game continuing, Kankava stopped and flipped Husyev on his back and pulled his tongue from his throat so he could breath again.

Husyev regained consciousness and was rushed to a hospital for a concussion and broken jaw.
