Texas Officers Receive Special Training To Save Children's Lives

Posted: Updated:

Marshalls in Texas are preparing for what has unfortunately played out in schools across the country.

Active shooter situations that threaten the lives of our children.

These school marshalls are beginning ‘Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training' or 'ALERRT'.

The two-day course, being taught at the ALERRT Center in San Marcos, empowers cops to take action when SWAT isn't around.

"If it ever does happen the right people get there fast enough and do the right things quick enough," says ALERRT training director, John Curnutt.

He continues, "we call it stress inoculation the more we can expose them to that type of environment they can deal with it and they can build up a tolerance to it so they can start working efficiently and a correctly through the solution to the problem."

The marshalls may be in schools as early as August.
