TEMPE, Ariz. -

An 18-year old woman falls 10 stories to her death in Tempe and police say alcohol may be a factor.

18 year-old Naomi McLendon, an ASU student from Manhattan Kansas, was at the apartment complex with friends early this morning.

Police say it appears she was drunk when she fell off the balcony around 2:45 a.m..

"We were just about to pull into parking spot, and we heard a big clap, and she was down on the ground," said Hanna Lysaker.

The 922 place apartments at Apache and Rural is an off-campus complex filled with mostly ASU students.

"I woke up and friends were talking about it. Yeah someone fell off one of the balconies and died," said Michael Chang.

Police say the fall was captured on surveillance video.

"It looks like she straddles the railing and lays down on top of the railing. Half of her body on the railing and the other half dangling," said Tempe Police Sergeant Mike Pooley.

"At one point she looks like she starts to slip. Realizes what is happening. She tries to catch herself, and, unfortunately, it is too late," said Pooley.

Police say the victim's friends were out looking for her when officers arrived.

Tempe police investigators do not suspect foul play.

"We are very confident that there was nobody else on that balcony with her, we are very confident that she was alone and it was just a horrible thing," said Pooley.

This investigation is far from over, since the victim is under 21, police want to know where and how she was able to drink alcohol.

They are also going to be doing toxicology tests to see if anything else was in her system.
