This happened in north phoenix near 16th street and Glendale.

"It's like what you see on the Discovery Channel all over the place," said neighbor Jonathan Contre.

Contre was stung by bees over 25 times trying help his neighbor after his neighbor was attacked trying to remove a hive from his roof.

"He started getting swarmed and attacked, and they chased him off his roof, he started yelling and screaming in the middle of the street," said Contre.

"I come running through the house, and I run through the garage and I see a gentleman down in the court there, and he was swinging his arms and running all over the place, he was screaming for help, and I knew it was bees that were after him," said Dan Hester.

"I went to the back of our house, filled a water container, threw the water on him, and then they went after me," said Contre.

In all a number of the neighbors that live here were stung and had to be checked out by paramedics.

The one 37 year-old man who got the brunt of the bee attack had to be taken to the hospital with extensive stings all over his body, his face, and even inside his mouth.

"He's not allergic to bees, but that many bee stings can have adverse affects on your body, especially in the mouth because of the toxins and stuff, you could have swelling, and it could close off your airway," said Capt. Tony Mure with Phoenix Fire.

The folks who live here say they've never seen anything like it. Now they're hoping for their neighbors quick recovery.
