CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A Northwest Indiana man has been charged with shooting two men last week on the South Side.

Jeremiah Jones, 18, faces two felony counts of attempted murder in connection with the shooting that happened about 11:50 a.m. on March 21 in the 7500 block of South Racine Avenue, according to a release from police News Affairs.

A 21-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were standing on the sidewalk when Jones allegedly walked up and fired shots at the pair, hitting the younger man in the head and hands, and the older man in the side, police said.

The 21-year-old was taken to a hospital with injuries thought to be non-life-threatening, and the 31-year-old declined treatment at the scene, police said.

Jones, of the 400 block of South Vine Street in Hammond, Ind., was arrested Thursday afternoon, the release said.

He was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
