Baby Girl Born With Half A Heart But A Full Smile

Posted: Updated:

A baby girl born in Las Vegas with only half a heart continues to survive against all odds.

Four-month old Gracie has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which basically means she born with half a heart.

Gracie's mother, Candie Baber, was given the news about her daughter's condition 16 weeks into her pregnancy.

Barber says, "It was really hard. Because it's like someone telling you your baby is not going to be okay,"

Gracie has gone through a lot since her birth, starting with open heart surgery when she was only ten days old.

She was able to go home for the first time after five procedures and two surgeries later.

But she continues to need an oxygen and feeding tube.

None of this seems to bother Gracie though as she shows off her amazing smile.

Her mother continues, "She was fighting so we were fighting for her."

She is expected to have another surgery in a few months and another when she turns three.  Doctors hope to eventually make her heart whole.
