NORTH PHILADELPHIA -

The search is on in North Philadelphia for a mother accused of leaving her three children home alone.

On Thursday, March 27th at 6:56 a.m, firefighters responded to a house fire on the 1700 block of N. Newkirk Street.

When officers arrived at the scene they received information from the neighbors that there were children inside the house.

Officers were able to gain access to the residence by breaking the front window.

Once inside the home, they located the three juveniles inside without supervision. Officers were able to rescue a 9-year-old male, and responding fire personnel were able to break the front door and save the two remaining children, ages 2 and 4.

According to police, they learned through their investigation that the children's mother left the residence at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, leaving the children behind.

The children were taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) where they were treated and released to their maternal grandmother.

The Special Victims Unit has issued a warrant for Lorraine Wilson,31, of 1700 N. Newkirk Street.

She faces 3 counts of each of the following charges: Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Recklessly Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
