Frederick Co. Schools cut three days from Spring Break to make up for snow

Posted: Updated:
Frederick County, Md. school students will have a shorter spring break than they planned, thanks to Mother Nature.  The Frederick County Board of Education made the decision cut Spring Break down to two days instead of five to make up for a portion of the days students missed due to snow days.

School officials say the district has used 12 total snow days, and there are only five built into the plan, which originally called for this school year to end on Wednesday, June 11.  Without a state waiver, the district must still make up seven days.

As a result, school will now be open on Monday April 14, Tuesday April 15 and Wednesday April 16, which were originally Spring Break days.

The school year will now end on June 12.

NOTE: We originally reported that the changes above were for Fairfax County, Virginia schools.  This is not correct.  We apologize for any confusion.
