Man allegedly stabbed by suspect claiming to be contractor

Posted: Updated:

A man was stabbed after a man allegedly forced his way into a Flagstaff home on Sunday.

Coconino County Sheriff's deputies say a man living in the West Doney Park neighborhood got a knock on his front door from a suspect claiming to be a private contractor who could do inexpensive repairs on the man's roof.

When the man declined the offer, the suspect allegedly forced his way into the home and the men began to struggle.

They made their way to the kitchen where the man grabbed a knife off the counter to defend himself.

Deputies say at some point during the struggle the man was stabbed in the stomach and the suspect got away.

The man was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as an adult male with dark complexion, possibly Native American or Hispanic, with dark very short cropped hair almost giving the impression the suspect was bald, a dark goatee, approximately 5'11" in height, weighing approximately 190 pounds and approximately 35 to 40 years of age. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jean pants.

Deputies believe this is an isolated incident, but if you have been contacted by someone claiming to be a private contractor, you're asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 928-774-4523 or Coconino County Silent Witness at 928-774-6111.
