Video shows cell phone robbery in Capitol South Metro station

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON - Metro Transit Police say a cell phone thief was caught on tape inside the Capital South Metro station last Saturday in a robbery that took place in the middle of the day.

They say the incident happened just after 2 p.m. last Saturday, March 22.  The suspect was stopped and arrested outside the station, and the cell phone he stole was also recovered.

Police say the surveillance video showing the incident is a good reminder to riders of the importance of maintaining awareness of their surroundings, especially when using electronic devices.  They say it’s also never a good idea to chase a suspect, because no property is worth the risk of getting hurt.  Instead, they advise you to get a good description of the suspect and be a good witness to police.
