A local community comes together to spruce up a school that has seen better days. Two area churches spearheaded the effort on Sunday as the call grows for a new building.

Students will return from spring break on Monday to Harmony Leland Elementary School. They will find that Cobb County oldest elementary school has been spruced up thanks to volunteers with Mosaic and Vinings Lake churches as well as the school's PTA and the Mableton Alliance for Children and Schools.

Sunday, the church members, parents and former students repainted hallways, tended to landscaping, donated school supplies and even gave the teachers' lounge a little love.

They say their goal was to help maintain a positive learning environment for the students.
