Police: Truck linked to missing Relisha Rudd found

Posted: Updated:

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) — Police say a truck sought as part of the search for a Washington, D.C., girl has been found in Maryland, but police are still looking for the girl.

Prince George's County Police said Friday that the unoccupied truck described in an Amber Alert seeking 8-year-old Relisha Rudd was found parked in Chapel Oaks.

D.C. Police say Relisha is still believed to be traveling with Kahlil Tatum.

D.C. Police notified Richmond, Va. authorities Thursday that they had reason to believe Rudd might be in the area, a spokesman for Richmond police said.

On Thursday, county police say officers checking a motel as part of the search found a woman's body, but say it's not clear if the woman was connected to Relisha.

District of Columbia leaders released a report Tuesday detailing the city government's involvement with Relisha Rudd and her family prior to the time she disappeared. The report found that the response by District government agencies and their contractors was appropriate, and that "no justifiable government actions" would have prevented her disappearance.
