New Season, New look? George Nikollaj, owner of 6 Salon in Royal Oak and Birmingham shows us some of the hot hair trends right now.

1. Fishtail Braid
The braid this time around is much less avant-garde. In fact, they were plucked right out of the romantic past. "The messy structure resembles a hairstyle a peasant girl might wear during the Renaissance," The textures are fuzzy and undone. At fashion week stylists pulled the braids up and away, pinning them around the head in regal, Frida Kahlo-inspired crowns.
2. Bobs Reinvented
When the time is right and you need a change, there's nothing quite as liberating as chopping off your hair into a bob. This process of renewal leaves you feeling fresh. The bob as a style in 2013 worked its way into fashion in a more basic and flexible way. The trend has paved the way for shoulder length and chin length bob styles that are simple enough to work across a variety of styles. In 2014, the bob haircut is not as much about novelty anymore, as it is about keeping its effortless feel updated in all shapes and sizes. Furthermore, the innovation for the season lies in the myriad of ways allowing you to style the bob and to keep it fresh and pertinent all throughout the year.

3. Deep side part
When it comes to making a statement of 2014′s hairstyles, particularly spring 2014′s hair trends, it's going to be hard to overlook the side-part. It's captured the imagination of catwalk stylists, hair stylists alike.
Wear it left, right, up, down, wet, dry, when you're in a hurry or taking your time… Wear it if you have short hair or long hair. It matters not. The side part is not only 2014′s statement parting, it's also its universal one. It goes without saying that if you have hair, you can part it to the side – even the tightest of curls will be receptive to a side part provided the right. In a world of ‘whatever works best', center-parts rule. But for those of us for whom fashion is part of who we are, ‘whatever works best' isn't good enough. If you're in such fashionable company, it's likely that you don't follow fashion trends but rather understand them, appreciate them, accept them or reject them and, if it's the former, personalize them and make them an extension of your own individual style.
4. Slick back hair/undercut fade
Slick back hair-Slick hair has been the most popular look for models, celebrities, and hipsters all over. If you have an undercut, comb hair straight back, on the diagonal, or across. Without an undercut, style hair with a defined part deep one side, combing hair in the opposite direction. One notable change to the usual slick hair is an increase in height. This is a must for thick  hair but can also can be styled with medium hair. These products for thick hair will work for every hair type except fine.
Undercut Fade-The shaved sides of the undercut are getting an update for 2014. Rather than shaving hair and leaving just the top long, this version shaves hair about 2″ from the hair line all around. It can be a dramatic contrast like above or a more gentle fade into the hairline. This is a clean cut look that can be paired with any hairstyle of your choice. It also grows out easily when you're ready to make a change.
